Environmental Science 101

Of all Earth’s inhabitants, the human species has the greatest impact on our planet. Our species transforms forests, grasslands and deserts to meet our requirements, while consuming finite resources such as fertile soils, clean drinking water and breathable air. This course will introduce aspects of the environment, including the distribution and use of freshwater, mineral and soil resources. The course will also cover topics on the importance of biodiversity, conservation, global climate and waste management. We will use the city itself for case studies and supplement with lab activities and active discussion.

This course is an elective for the Certificate in Horticulture and not required. It is open to all, including to those enrolled in the Certificate in Horticulture program. For more information, please visit the Certificate in Horticulture webpage.
