Anna PaltsevaN/ADr. Anna Paltseva, a Russian-born scientist, holds a PhD in Earth and Environmental Sciences from the CUNY Graduate Center in New York City. Her research efforts focus on how heavy metal contaminants interact with soils and vegetable production in urban and suburban New York City and address the public health implications of soil contamination. Dr. Paltseva's research has been recognized both nationally and internationally, being highlighted at soil conferences in Italy, Brazil, Mexico, China, and her native Russia. In addition to authoring and coauthoring several articles and book chapters, her work has been spotlighted in the news media, including CBS, The Gotham Gazette, and the New York Post. Dr. Paltseva is currently a lecturer at Brooklyn College, New York University, New York Botanical Garden, and Brooklyn Botanic Garden. She also develops educational materials, leads soil workshops, and coordinates international collaborations for the New York City Urban Soils Institute. Her dedication to bringing public awareness about urban soil contamination has driven her to publish her first book, The Urban Soil Handbook: Field and Lab Manual, which will aid the public in the mitigation and remediation of soil pollution.
