Class: Winter Tree Identification at Green-Wood. Photo by Rebecca Bullene.

Want to be able to identify trees and shrubs in the winter time? Join BBG's foreman of grounds and Green-Wood's director of horticulture to observe conifers and deciduous trees and shrubs in their winter form. You will learn to ID plants based on characteristics like growth, habit, bark patterns, buds, and leaf scars. Completion of Woody Landscape Plant Identification or Botany for Horticulturists highly suggested.

This course is an elective for the Certificate in Horticulture and not required. It is offered as a supplement for people who plan to pursue a career in the horticulture industry and for highly motivated home gardeners who want an in-depth understanding of plants and gardening.
