Learn how to identify 50 common New York City trees and shrubs, and explore their uses in the urban landscape. Lectures will take place virtually, to be supplemented with weekly independent visits to the Garden to see plants in-person. As this course requires a significant amount of memorization, it is not recommended to take this course at the same time as Herbaceous Landscape Plant Identification.

This course is one of eight required for the Certificate in Horticulture—a program is designed for people who plan to pursue a career in the horticulture industry and for highly motivated home gardeners who want an in-depth understanding of plants and gardening. For more information, please visit the Certificate in Horticulture webpage.
