All the Ladies: Get to Know Female Birds—ON-SITE

Female birds

Female birds have spent too long out of the limelight, overlooked when people focus on the flashier males. This male-centric view limits our appreciation of the full range of birds' plumage, behavior, and song. Learn about all the ways you can find and identify the female birds that make New York City home. This single-session class has two parts: First we'll explore the general principles of female bird identification and the implications that this has for both birding and bird conservation. Then we'll head out into the Garden and put some of that new knowledge to work! You don't need to be an expert birder to get something out of this class, but a passing familiarity with the principles of birding will help.
