This workshop focuses on painting seasonal motifs such as holly and other cool-season greens and on discovering color in winter branches through a combination of loose and controlled watercolor techniques. Emphasis will be on massing in layered, transparent washes with a gradual buildup of detail through color and tone. The particular qualities of various pigments will be examined and incorporated to build up areas of transparency and opacity while also attending to composition and rhythm.
